Using Neuroscience to Manage Stress at Work

Jesse Hanson discusses stress through the lens of neuroscience and how Helix Healthcare Group can give you the tools to deal with stress as it arises. Watch the video or read the transcript below.

It’s no big secret that we get stressed out at work. Recent science shows how impactful this stress is on our bodies and our minds. Even more so, recent neuroscience is starting to show how mindfulness practices and meditation practices can actually reduce stress as it arises.

What we do at Helix Healthcare Group is we provide practical skills that help people learn how to deal with stress as it arises so that when they’re at work they can increase their productivity, increase their ability to be present.

What I’d like to invite us to look at is the possibility that maybe stress is not something outside of us that attacks us, but maybe stress is about how I relate to my day to day interactions with people, with my job, with my family, and that the good news in this is that if it is about my relationship to the world around me. I actually have a lot more influence on stress than I might think I do.

That’s what we do at Helix Healthcare Group. We help people learn how to deal with and manage their own stress, and recognize that they have the power within them to deal with stress moment to moment so that they don’t carry it around with them and become less productive at work, more irritated at home, and more irritated at work.

Part of what we offer is professional workshops and seminars in corporations that help coworkers learn how to work together more effectively. We also work with individuals and groups in our facility in the heart of Toronto to help people learn how to manage their own stress.

[sentence title=”“There is still hope that these patterns can be rewired.“”]

Current neuroscience shows us that the brain can be rewired, even if these patterns and habits have been built into our system from long ago and feel so engrained. There is still hope that these patterns can be rewired.

At Helix Healthcare Group, our programs and workshops teach employees how to deal with stress as it arises in both the mind and the body. What this means is much more productivity at work, better attitudes and overall more happiness in the workplace, and that will often carry over into their home life as well.
